600 Pennsylvania nursing home workers rally in Harrisburg for $16 million Medicaid boost

First Posted: 10/3/2014 HANOVER TWP.: Members of the Hanover Township Lions Club will be collecting funds for White Cane during the month of October at various banks and churches throughout the township. Local business will also have containers for donations.
All proceeds will be used for sight conservation projects, such as the Northeast Pennsylvania Lions Eye Bank, Sgt. Seymour eye exams for grade school children, eyeglasses for the needy, Beacon Lodge Camp for the blind, Leader Dog School, sight research and Sightfirst II, which is a world-wide Lions project to eliminate all preventable blindness.
WILKES-BARRE: The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is hosting its annual candlelight vigil for Mental Illness Awareness Week on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Luzerne County Courthouse Rotunda. The alliance will be honoring UNICO Wilkes-Barre with the Lester Verano Advocacy Award. Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the program will start at 6 p.m., followed by the candle lighting at 7 p.m.
