DUNMORE &#8212; PennDOT announced Tuesday that the replacement of two area culvert bridges will take some time and won&#8217;t be completed until the fall.In order to replace a box culvert bridge that was originally built in 1929, Shoemaker Avenue in West Wyoming was closed Tuesday and a detour is being posted.This bridge is being replaced under the same $2.23 million contract as a 90-year-old bridge on 8th Street, which is being built utilizing a temporary runaround bridge.However, the bridge on Shoemaker Avenue requires a detour due to the lack of available space for a temporary bridge. The detour will take traffic to Dennison Street to Wyoming Avenue and then to 8th Street, said James May, PennDOT spokesman.Repairs to both of these bridges are scheduled to be complete by October of this year.On Wednesday, there will be a traffic switch on Route 11 &#8212; Main/Church Street &#8212; in Larksville to move traffic onto a temporary runaround bridge. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers throughout the day and major delays are expected on Route 11 in the Larksville area from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.The project cost is $1.08 million, May said. The only major impact to traffic, he said, will be Wednesday while the crew is getting everything set up.PennDOT said crews will be replacing a 1934 stone-arch, box culvert bridge. The project is scheduled to be complete by November of this year.May said the reason for the repairs is due to the age of the bridges &#8212; some 85 to 90 years old.
