First Posted: 5/9/2014 PITTSTON TWP. &#8212; Frances J. (Scrumo) Galante, of Pittston Township, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Riverside Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Taylor. She was the wife of the late Sam Galante.
She was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Colabria, Italy, to the late Rose Mary (Mangiaruga) and Fernando Scrumo.
Surviving are her son, Charles and his wife, Ann Galante, Pittston Township; daughter, Caroline Gubino; sister, Angie Montagna; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie Montagna, Mike Montagna, Sam Montagna, Joe Montagna, Ross Montagna, Fred Scrumo; and sister, Rose Rizzuto.
The family gives special thanks to the nurses of Riverside Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Hospice of The Sacred Heart and Dr. Mauer Biscotti for the kindness, care and compassion they showed Frances.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.
At Frances&#8217;s request, all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frances&#8217;s name to The Oblates of St. Joseph, 1880 Highway 315, Pittston, PA 18640; or Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
