First Posted: 4/24/2014 NEW YORK &#8212; Chris Young homered to start New York&#8217;s comeback and slumping Curtis Granderson singled in a run as a pinch hitter as Bartolo Colon and the Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 Thursday to send Lance Lynn to his first career loss in April.
Colon (2-3) allowed four hits in seven innings, struck out eight and walked none. Carlos Torres and Scott Rice split the eighth, and Daisuke Matsuzaka finished the four-hitter with a perfect ninth for his first save since 2000 with the Seibu Lions of Japan&#8217;s Pacific League.
New York took three of four from the defending NL champions and has won four of five overall.
St. Louis lost for the sixth time in nine games and has gone 291 at-bats without a home runs since Allen Craig connected at Milwaukee off Wily Peralta on April 16.
Lynn (4-1) had been 12-0 through April in his big league career, including one March victory. But given a fifth-inning lead, he allowed the Mets to tie the score in the bottom half.
New York went ahead in the sixth on Daniel Murphy&#8217;s RBI double, and Lynn was chased in a two-run sixth. Lynn struck out nine in 6 1-3 innings and allowed four hits and three runs &#8212; one of them unearned because of his own throwing error.
Granderson had been 2 for 20 against left-handers this year before he batted for Colon in the seventh and greeted Kevin Siegrist with an RBI single. Young Jr. tripled later in the inning and scored on Murphy&#8217;s single.
Reds 2, Pirates 1
PITTSBURGH &#8212; Ryan Ludwick lined a two-run double after two Cincinnati batters were hit by pitches, lifting Tony Cingrani and the Reds over Pittsburgh.
The Reds won for the seventh time in nine games and reached .500 at 11-11.
The Pirates have lost six of seven, scoring a total of 22 runs in that span.
Cingrani (2-2) allowed one run and six hits in six innings. He struck out seven and walked two.
Logan Ondrusek, Sam LeCure and Jonathan Broxton pitched one scoreless inning each in relief of Cingrani. Broxton recorded his fourth save.
Diamondbacks 5, Cubs 2
CHICAGO &#8212; Mike Bolsinger earned his first major league win, pitching into the seventh inning and hitting an RBI single as Arizona beat the Chicago Cubs.
Bolsinger (1-1) allowed one unearned run and four hits in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked two.
Miguel Montero drove in two runs, and the Diamondbacks won consecutive games for only the second time this season. Addison Reed got his fifth save in six chances with a perfect ninth.
Edwin Jackson (1-2) pitched seven innings. He retired 17 of 18 batters after Bolsinger&#8217;s run-scoring single in the second.
Montero hit a two-out double in the first inning for a 1-0 lead.
The Cubs got that run back right away in the bottom half. Leadoff man Emilio Bonifacio stretched a hit up the middle into a hustle double, which was reviewed when it appeared he was tagged out when he overslid the base. After a lengthy replay review, the call stood.
