City free clinic seeks volunteer manager

First Posted: 8/1/2014 MOOSIC &#8212; It took a couple of super shots by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, but our hometown Superheros finally got ahead of the bad guys.
And it all drove ghastly Gwinnett right out of town.
Adonis Garcia and Kyle Roller hit back-to-back home runs in a five-run second inning Friday that carried the RailRiders to a 7-2 victory over Gwinnett on Superhero Night at PNC Field.
Captured and tormented by Gwinnett pitching during the first two games of the series, the RailRiders finally broke free to vanquish the villains over the final two nights of the four-game set.
And in the finale, it took some special super powers to do it.
After Antoan Richardson delivered Corban Joseph with a sacrifice fly to tie the game 1-1, the RailRiders had two men on base and two outs when the Iron Man stepped to the plate.
No, Cal Ripken Jr. isn&#8217;t making a comeback, that was the caricature on the big video board selected for Garcia when he stepped to the plate to celebrate the theme of the night.
At any rate, Garcia delivered the biggest blow of the night, belting a three-run homer over the left-center field wall that also brought home Taylor Dugas and Jose Pirela for a 4-1 RailRiders lead.
Then it was an incredible shot from the Incredible Hulk - the video image selected for Roller.
The left-handed slugger ripped a solo shot to a similar spot as Garcia&#8217;s left the park for his 11th Triple-A home run of the season.
The back-to-back blasts left the RailRiders in complete control, 5-1.
The RailRiders also got some help from &#8220;Superman&#8221; John Ryan Murphy. He finally solved his kryptonite that caused him to strand six men on base - including the bases loaded in the first inning - with inning-ending outs and roped a run-scoring single for the final RailRiders run in the sixth inning.
That came after Joseph dumped a double into the right field corner and scored on Pirela&#8217;s single.
And just try to get the ball past Spider-Man, aka Rob Refsnyder.
The RailRiders second baseman threw out a couple of web gems in the eighth inning, backhanding one bouncer and gunning down Brandon Boggs on a jump throw to start the inning and then making a diving stab of Sean Kazmar&#8217;s grounder to turn a certain hit into a forceout to end the frame.
It all helped make a winner of RailRiders starter Bryan Mitchell - who wasn&#8217;t assigned a Super Hero character because he didn&#8217;t bat.
But Mitchell may have made the greatest contribution of the night toward keeping the RailRiders universe safe from danger.
He battled through five credible innings and kept escaping danger to move his Triple-A record to 3-1.
Mitchell surrendered seven hits and two walks, but limited Gwinnett to just two runs by stranding the bases loaded in the first inning and leaving runners in scoring position in the third and fifth.
