SCRANTON &#8212; As summer weather makes its way into Northeastern Pennsylvania, many area residents often look to the cool and inviting waters of the area&#8217;s creeks, rivers and reservoirs as a way to beat the heat. Many of these spots are not only on private property, but could be extremely dangerous.Pennsylvania American Water reminds area residents that trespassing is prohibited on all company property and reservoirs, and all areas are clearly marked with signage. The company continues to work with local police departments to increase security patrols and will press charges against anyone who is caught trespassing on company property.Although swimming or entering a water supply reservoir is strictly prohibited, Pennsylvania American Water does allow access to designated areas for residents to enjoy walking trails and shoreline fishing.Walking trails are open from dawn until dusk around the Lake Scranton and Dunmore No. 1 reservoirs.Shoreline fishing is allowed in designated areas around the following Lackawanna County reservoirs: Griffin Pond, South Abington and Scott townships; Curtis Reservoir, Madison Township; Dunmore No. 1 Reservoir, Dunmore; Elmhurst Reservoir, Roaring Brook Township and Maple Lake, Spring Brook Township.
