First Posted: 12/9/2013 WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A West Hazleton man was sentenced in Luzerne County Court on Monday for starting fires at several locations in Hazleton in September 2012.
Lawrence Ustonofski, 50, of West Broad Street, pleaded guilty in October to three counts of arson, two counts of reckless burning and five counts of criminal mischief. According to court papers, Ustonofski set fire to a sign at Kentucky Fried Chicken on Broad Street, at Grand Central in Hazleton and a brush fire before being arrested by police.
Judge David W. Lupas ordered him to serve 11-and-a-half to 23 months, concurrently, on the first six counts, four years&#8217; probation, concurrently with that sentence, and 18 months&#8217; probation, concurrently, on the four remaining counts.
With credit for 442 days of time served, Ustonofski was to be immediately paroled, according to court documents.
Ustonofski is required to make more than $114,000 in restitution, and he must provide a written apology to the victims.
