Stout’s effort leads Dawgs to title

First Posted: 11/10/2013 LEXINGTON, Ky. &#8212; Freshman forward Julius Randle had 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead No. 1 Kentucky to a 93-63 blowout of Northern Kentucky on Sunday.
Guard Aaron Harrison added 16 points for Kentucky (2-0) while twin brother Andrew had 13. Alex Poythress contributed nine points while 7-footer Willie Cauley-Stein added seven points and 11 rebounds.
Needing a good tuneup with Tuesday&#8217;s showdown looming against No. 2 Michigan State in Chicago, the Wildcats responded by dominating every area. Kentucky shot 30 of 55 from the field (54.5 percent), outrebounded NKU 51-23 and scored 36 points in the paint.
NOTRE DAME 80, STETSON 49
SOUTH BEND, Ind. &#8212; Jerian Grant and Garrick Sherman scored 15 points each for Notre Dame.
Pat Connaughton added 10 points for the Irish (2-0), while Sherman led the team with nine rebounds. Senior point guard Eric Atkins finished with eight points, leaving him five short of 1,000 for his career.

Kentucky 95, Wagner 57
NEW YORK &#8212; DeNesha Stallworth had 18 points and 13 rebounds to help No. 7 Kentucky rout Wagner.
Bria Goss added 17 points for the Wildcats, who trailed 7-3 early, before getting going.
The Wildcats (2-0) scored 27 of the next 30 points, hitting five 3-pointers during the game-changing spurt. Goss had eight points in the run, including a 3-pointer that made it 30-10 with 8:26 left in the half.
 MARYLAND 89, LOYOLA, MD. 53
COLLEGE PARK, Md. &#8212; Alyssa Thomas had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Alicia DeVaughn added 14 points for Maryland in the in-state matchup.
The Terrapins (2-0) never trailed as they defeated the Greyhounds (0-1) to win their home opener for the 15th consecutive season.
PENN ST. 78, FORDHAM 61 
STATE COLLEGE &#8212; Maggie Lucas had 23 points and six rebounds to lead Penn State.
Lucas had four 3-pointers and moved past Michigan State&#8217;s Lindsay Bowen into second place on the Big Ten&#8217;s career 3-pointers list (297). She scored at least 20 points for the 48th time in her career.
Ariel Edwards had 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and Dara Taylor had 12 points for the Lady Lions (2-0).
IOWA 97, DAYTON 93, OT
IOWA CITY, Iowa &#8212; Bethany Doolittle was 10 of 13 from the field and scored 22 points for Iowa in the Hawkeye Challenge.
Samantha Logic hit a 3-pointer for Iowa with 9 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 90.
Iowa (2-0) held a 77-63 lead with under 10 minutes remaining in the second half and was up 85-79 with 3 minutes to play. But Dayton (1-1) scored 11 straight points to take a 90-85 lead with 32 seconds left.
PURDUE 63, BALL ST. 57
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. &#8212; KK Houser matched her career-high with 21 points for Purdue in the season opener for both teams.
Houser hit two 3-pointers to tie the game at the end of the first half and scored nine straight points at the start of the second for the Boilermakers.
OKLAHOMA ST. 73, TEXAS-ARLINGTON 35
STILLWATER, Okla. &#8212; Tiffany Bias had 14 points, nine assists and six steals for Oklahoma State.
LaShawn Jones 12 points and 11 rebounds and Brittney Martin scored a game-high 16 points for Oklahoma State.
The Cowgirls (2-0) opened the game with a 32-7 run before UTA closed the gap to 41-23 at halftime. Oklahoma State then scored 18 straight points, holding the Mavericks scoreless for the first 7:59 of the second half.
SOUTH CAROLINA 68, La. TECH 45
COLUMBIA, S.C. &#8212; Aleighsa Welch had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead South Carolina.
Alaina Coates added 12 points and 10 rebounds for South Carolina (2-0), which outrebounded Louisiana Tech 47-29. South Carolina shot over 45 percent from the field despite going 4 of 18 from beyond the 3-point arc.
GEORGIA 45, PRESBYTERIAN 30
ATHENS, Ga. &#8212; Khaalidah Miller had seven points, 11 rebounds and six assists to lead Georgia in the season opener for both teams.
The Bulldogs shot 32 percent from the field and outrebounded the Blue Hose 51-37.
With the game tied 6-6 early in the first half, Georgia used a 9-0 run &#8212; sparked by two jumpers by Erika Ford &#8212; and held Presbyterian to four points the remainder of the first half for a 19-10 lead.
