First Posted: 4/8/2012 (AP) The Oxford bow man who collapsed after the Boat Race has been released from the hospital, a day after Cambridge won the event that was interrupted by a swimming protester.
Dr. Alexander Woods was taken to Charing Cross Hospital after collapsing post-race. Paramedics later said Woods was in a stable condition but kept overnight for monitoring before returning to Oxford on Sunday.
"I think it was just a case of somebody being able to row themselves absolutely to a state of exhaustion," Oxford coach Sean Bowden told the BBC.
Protester Trenton Oldfield, who studied contemporary urbanism at the London School of Economics, claimed responsibility for the stunt on a blog. He was charged with a public order offense.
On Sunday, Australian Associated Press said Oldfield was Australian.
