First Posted: 4/17/2013 Ron and Lois Nervitt (nee Schwartz), former residents of Wyoming Valley, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple was married on April 20, 1963, in Holy Trinity Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Ron, the son of the late Albert and Helen Nervitt, Swoyersville, retired as a senior executive with the U.S. Department of Treasury.
Lois, the daughter of the late Felix and Rose Schwartz, Wilkes-Barre, retired as a certified professional resources manager with the National Security Agency.
Following their careers in the Washington, D.C. area, the couple retired to Williamsburg, Va., where they continued with their love of horses and involvement in the thoroughbred breeding and racing industry.
Both also became engaged in community service with Ron being elected to the James City County Board of Supervisors and Lois serving on various non-profit boards of directors. She is currently associated with the Cancer Care Foundation of Tidewater promoting acts of kindness to cancer patients.
The couple is marking their happy occasion in Las Vegas and on safari in Africa.
