Hundreds turn out in Wilkes-Barre to support Meyers High School

PLAINS TWP. &#8212; Taking a break between sets on the new weight training machines during the grand opening of A.C. Fitness Saturday, longtime member &#8220;Rick,&#8221; who declined to give his last name, said the newly renovated gym runs like a &#8220;well-oiled machine.&#8221;&#8220;Exercising is hard, but these machines are easier to work with,&#8221; Rick said. &#8220;They follow a natural range of motion, which limit injuries, better than the old machines. There are literally hundreds of exercise you can do, for any age.&#8221;Rick also commended the gym&#8217;s trainers, Mike Smith and Mark Szot. &#8220;They are outstanding,&#8221; he said.Formerly the Athletic Club, the revamped 7,900-square-foot, two-level facility features new, state-of-the-art Life Fitness equipment, said Szot, general manager.&#8220;It&#8217;s one of the best, if not the best on the market right now,&#8221; he said of the equipment.He pointed out another new addition; the Powermill stair climber. &#8220;If you ever want to lose weight, this is where you go,&#8221; he said.The gym also features two TrackMan Golf studios to aid in perfecting golf techniques, taught by Brian Llewellyn, PGA golf pro.&#8220;It displays 85 different virtual golf courses,&#8221; said Robert Tambur Sr., a local commercial developer and owner of A.C. Fitness. &#8220;It&#8216;s very sophisticated, and is the only one in Northeast Pa.&#8221;The event included fitness class demonstrations, as well as free-day pass giveaways and tours of the facility.&#8220;The whole format is different, top to bottom, including the logo,&#8221; said Bobbie Steever, executive director of community relations at TFP Limited. She added that some of the newly added classes include Zumba, self -defense, yoga and boot camp.Spin instructor Bria Moore, who is one of the gym&#8217;s newest employees, taught the first class of the morning.&#8220;It was so much fun,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It was a great experience. I had a guy that said he was going to take all of my classes.&#8221;
