<p>After posting an impressive 11 points in 15 games during the 2014 playoffs, Conor Sheary thought his first stint as a pro may have been enough to earn him an NHL deal.</p><p>But Sheary had to settle for an AHL contract for his rookie season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.</p><p>On Wednesday, that changed quickly.</p><p>After leading the AHL Penguins with 45 points in 58 games, to go along with 20 goals, Pittsburgh rewarded Sheary with a two-year entry-level contract.</p><p>Sheary further cemented his status as a top-six forward prospect by leading the Penguins with 12 points in eight games during the 2015 postseason.</p><p>Sheary&#8217;s signing was one of several that should bolster Pittsburgh&#8217;s AHL depth. Also coming in on two-way deals are forwards Kevin Porter and Kael Mouillierat, along with defensemen David Warsofsky and former Hershey Bear Steve Oleksy, who were signed as free agents. Also acquired in the Phil Kessel trade were defenseman Tim Erixon and forward Tyler Biggs.</p><p>On the way out are forward Jayson Megna, who has spent the last three seasons with the organization and appeared in 144 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Megna, who signed a deal with the New York Rangers, posted career highs last season with 26 goals and 39 points in 63 games.</p><p>Veteran defenseman Taylor Chorney, who played in 62 games last season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and posted 19 points, also left via a one-way contract with the Washington Capitals. Defenseman Scott Harrington, who spent the bulk of his first two pro seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, was also moved in the trade with Toronto to acquire Kessel.</p><p>Porter, 29, is a veteran of eight pro seasons and 206 NHL games with Buffalo, Colorado and Phoenix. He spent all of last season in the AHL with Grand Rapids, posting 16 goals and 39 points in 76 games. Porter spent two full seasons with the Avalanche from 2010 to 2012. He scored 14 goals in 74 games with the Avalanche in 2010-11.</p><p>Mouillierat, 27, is a proven scorer at the AHL level. He topped the 20-goal, 50-point mark each of the last two seasons with St. John&#8217;s and Bridgeport. Against the Penguins last season, Mouillierat had three goals in three games.</p><p>Oleksy is a familiar face to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton fans during his last three seasons with Hershey. The physical blueliner with an agitating style was Hershey&#8217;s captain last season and posted 147 penalty minutes, including 23 in 12 games against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.</p><p>Warsofsky, 25, has spent all five seasons of his pro career with the Boston organization, mainly with Providence. Erixon and Biggs are former first round picks.
