Scranton man found during fight investigation charged with weapons violation

DURYEA &#8212; The borough council announced Tuesday night&#8217;s meeting that it was denied a street improvement LSA Grant.President Jimmy Balchune said there was stiff competition for the grants this year, but he is optimistic that the borough will be rewarded in the future.&#8220;There&#8217;s only so much money that can go around,&#8221; said Balchune. &#8220;But, hopefully next year we&#8217;ll get it.&#8221;Balchune said there was $65 million worth of requests for the LSA Grant, but only $12 million could be distributed evenly.In other business, the council:&#8226; Accepted the resignations of Trina Moss, Mary Ann Cappelloni and Leigh Ann Balchune from the Duryea Recreation Board.&#8226; Accepted the recommendations of Recreation Board members to appoint Stephanie Shupp, Ken Werner and Anissa Akulonis to the board.&#8226; Accepted the recommendation of Recreation Board members to appoint Marla Demich as an alternate board member.
