GWA forces another game

LOUISVILLE, Ky. &#8212; Fresh off being named the International League&#8217;s Top Player in Wednesday night&#8217;s Triple-A All-Star game for getting two hits, including the go-ahead two-run single in the top of the ninth, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre&#8217;s Kyle Roller was back at it again on Thursday night as his team returned to action.Roller hit a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the 11th to lead the RailRiders to an 8-7 victory over Louisville at Louisville Slugger Field.Roller crushed a 3-2 pitch from Jose De La Torre deep over the wall in right field for his team-leading 13th of the season and for the moment made the team&#8217;s bullpen troubles not matter.Roller&#8217;s longball was needed because the SWB bullpen imploded in the bottom of the ninth, blowing a five-run lead as Louisville tied the game 7-7 off Nick Rumbelow and Caleb Cotham.Rumbelow, who allowed a walk-off homer last week to former RailRider Melky Mesa at Buffalo, let four of the five batters he faced reach base. Three of them scored, two on a double by Ramon Cabrera to pull the Bats within 7-5.Cotham relieved Rumbelow and gave up a single to Chris Dominguez, scoring Cabrera to put the tying run on base. Dominguez then scored on a throwing error by second baseman Jose Pirela to tie the game a 7-7 and force extra innings. Right-hander Nick Goody pitched a perfect bottom of 11 for his first Triple-A save.The ninth-inning meltdown ruined a fine start by Kyle Davies, who took a shutout into the sixth inning before giving up the two runs he allowed en route to his fourth straight quality start and the fifth quality start in his last even outings. The right-hander gave up just four hits and took a no-hitter into the fourth inning. The first hit he gave up was a single to Hernan Iribarren with one out in the fourth.Davies walked two Bats; both were in the sixth and hurt him. He issued a leadoff walk, which scored on a triple by Kris Negron &#8212; who later scored on a sac fly &#8212; before walking Iribarrern.The RailRiders jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Aaron Judge, who is a few days removed from playing in the MLB Futures Game, smacked a two-run homer, his second of the season.SWB plated four runs in the fifth as Jose Pirela doubled in a run, Ramon Flores tripled him in before scoring on a wild pitch highlighting some of the action in the frame.Pirela (4 for 5) laced an RBI single in the top of the ninth to extend the lead to 7-2.
