SPRINGBROOK TWP. &#8212; The Back Mountain National and Archbald all-stars should have been on their way home Saturday night. Instead, they were just starting their Section 5 Little League Major Baseball game at the North Pocono Little League.Heavy rain resulted in a two-hour delay and a starting time of 9:45 p.m. The game finally ended at 11:24 p.m. in dramatic fashion.Aidan Conrad hit a walk-off homer with one out in the bottom of the sixth as National edged Archbald 5-4 to advance to Sunday&#8217;s winners bracket final.National will play North Pocono, a 8-6 winner over Mountain Top, at 7:30 p.m. at the North Pocono field. At 5:30 p.m., Archbald and Mountain Top will play in an elimination game.There was no doubt when Conrad connected that the game was over as his homer easily cleared the center field fence. The victory was the second consecutive one-run win for National, which defeated Back Mountain American 8-7 for the District 31 title.District 32 champ Archbald trailed 4-3 entering the top of the sixth, but Zack Kovalchik&#8217;s RBI single tied the score. Kovalchik also hit a solo homer in the fifth to cut National&#8217;s two-run lead in half. Archbald, though, ran itself out of the possibility of more runs when Max Hanyon tried to score from second on a dropped third strike. The throw down to first was wide, allowing Hanyon a chance at a dash for home.National took a 3-1 lead in the first inning. Max Paczewski led off the game by reaching on an error. Luke Spencer followed with a home run to right-center. Kyle Sincavage made it back-to-back homers with a shot to left.National increased its advantage to 4-1 in the second on an RBI single by Paczewski with one out. But from there until Conard&#8217;s game-winning homer, National had just two more base runners. Both came in the third on a single by Michael Rother and a double by Conrad.Back Mtn.
