PennDOT to utilize overhead message boards for Interstate travel times

<p>NANTICOKE &#8212; Police charged Brandy Peters with assault, avoiding apprehension and reckless endangerment Friday after a foot chase that resulted in the reported injury of a police officer.</p><p>Police said they were called to a residence on Center Street at about 8:30 p.m. after being advised that a female at that location was wanted.</p><p>Police said they confirmed Peters had three outstanding warrants out of the Luzerne County Sheriff&#8217;s Office, Luzerne County Probation and Parole and Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department.</p><p>Police said upon arrival they saw Peters cutting grass in an adjacent property.</p><p>When approached by police who told Peters they needed to talk to her, Peters first walked and then ran alongside the residence heading east.</p><p>During a brief police pursuit, Peters allegedly opened a wrought iron gate and slammed it shut striking an officer, causing him to lose his balance and falling.</p><p>Although reportedly injured, the officer pursued her and took her to the ground near a wooded area.</p><p>At that time, police said they were able to handcuff her , although she was still allegedly yelling and screaming, striking officers in the legs, arms and hands.</p><p>She was secured in the back of the patrol vehicle, charged and transported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on the outstanding warrants.</p><style>
