HARVEYS LAKE &#8212; A Larksville man who disguised himself as a licensed and insured tree cutter was charged with abandoning a job when a branch fell on a house roof that was damaged last month.Police charged Richard Kneller, 27, of Delbrook Way, with reckless endangerment, theft, criminal mischief, receiving payment for services and fails to perform and driving a vehicle with a suspended license. The charges were filed with District Judge James Tupper and mailed to Kneller.A preliminary hearing is scheduled on Aug. 27.According to the criminal complaint:Jason Boice told police he received a flyer in his mailbox on June 29 from a company called &#8220;Trees &amp; More,&#8221; soliciting landscaping and tree removal. The flyer stated the company was insured and offered free estimates.Boice called the phone number on the flyer and spoke with Kneller, who identified himself as the owner of Trees &amp; More.Boice claimed Kneller told him that he is insured and licensed, and had been cutting trees for a long time and has a good reputation. Kneller provided Boice with an estimate of $1,400 to cut and remove two trees 60 feet high and clear brush from the property.Boice allegedly gave Kneller $700 down payment for the job.Police allege in the complaint Kneller arrived at Boice&#8217;s property with three men and began work. Boice left his residence but returned a short time later to find the top of a tree on his roof that was damaged, the complaint says.Kneller told Boice he was sorry for the mishap and would return the next morning to finish the work and remove the tree top from the roof, according to the complaint.Boice claimed Kneller gave him a woman&#8217;s name whom he believed was an insurance agent. When Kneller failed to return the next morning, Boice called Kneller and the insurance agent&#8217;s phone number but only received voice mails, the complaint says.Police allegedly learned the insurance agent was not an agent but Kneller&#8217;s girlfriend, and a phone number he gave Boice was no longer in service.
