<p>NANTICOKE &#8211; A contractor for PennDOT will begin a major resurfacing project on SR 29 (The South Cross Valley Expressway) between the John S. Fine Bridge and Interstate 81 in Nanticoke.</p><p>The $8.9 million project will be for milling and resurfacing both lanes in each direction of the entire four mile stretch of roadway. The contractor will also be installing new center median guide rail throughout much of the project as well.</p><p>Tomorrow at 7 a.m., there will be a single lane closure on SR 29 South. On Friday, northbound lanes of the roadway will also be down to a single lane.</p><p>Both the northbound and southbound lanes will remain in a single lane pattern until late October when the single lane pattern will be lifted for the winter. The single lane pattern will resume in the spring of 2016 and will remain in place until late summer of 2016 when the project is scheduled to be complete.</p><p>While significant delays will occur in the area, a PennDOT news release indicated that those who use this road on a regular basis will likely see this a temporary inconvenience for a very necessary improvement.</p><style>
