Dupont police chief forced to surrender firearm due to PFA

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Two people reported they were robbed at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon while walking near the South Street Bridge.</p><p>City police said the victims arrived at police headquarters at about 2:15 p.m. and reported that a male approached them as they were walking on South Street near South Welles Street and struck one of them in the face.</p><p>The male then brandished a firearm and demanded that the victims empty their pockets. Both victims complied and gave the robber a wallet containing an identification card, $60 in cash, a birth certificate and a Social Security card, police said.</p><p>The victims told police the male then fled south on Park Avenue on foot as they fled toward South Welles Street. Neither victim had a cellular phone and could not immediately call 911, police said.</p><p>The suspect is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, 270 pounds with blue eyes and a large build. He was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and a red hat and concealed his face with a black bandanna.</p><p>Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect should call police at 570-826-8106 or dial 911.</p><style>
