Kermit and Miss Piggy split, but team up on ABC comedy

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The Osterhout Free Library will turn the top level of the Wilkes-Barre Intermodal Parking Facility into a beer garden.</p><p>On Friday, Aug. 7, the library&#8217;s 7th Annual Brewsterhout Rooftop Party fundraiser will feature a DJ, raffles, food, beer and wine. The fest is a successful fundraiser and this year&#8217;s event is expected to bring in more than $10,000 according to library officials.</p><p>Osterhout Development Director Christopher Kelly said he expects at least 500 people at the 21-and-over event, which is another way for the library to reach out to and ask support from the public in a fun, creative way. Part of that fun and creativity lies in the selection of adult beverages on hand, which Kelly said would be impossible to supply without the generosity of the Osterhout&#8217;s supporters.</p><p>&#8220;We have a great selections of beers&#8212;that&#8217;s what we&#8217;re known for,&#8221; Kelly said. &#8220;We&#8217;re lucky to have Northeast Eagle Distributors. They provide a lot of their Bud, Michelob Ultra, Susquehanna Brewing Company and Yuengling products. We also have Breaker Brewing Company. We have a great group of local donors that help us provide beverages for everybody. They donate their time and their products.&#8221;</p><p>The Brewsterhout Rooftop Party will feature wines, juices and water for drinkers who prefer other beverages, but the party isn&#8217;t just catering to those who come thirsty&#8212;they&#8217;re also prepared for guests who bring along empty stomachs.</p><p>&#8220;Right now we have close to 30 local restaurants and food vendors who are going to be there,&#8221; Kelly said. &#8220;We couldn&#8217;t do it without them because we get pizza, pasta, sushi and a whole variety of sandwiches all donated. We&#8217;ll have tables with the food spread out and people can come and sample the foods from all these great restaurants. Of course, after the party ends at 8 p.m., we hope maybe if they got a sample of something they enjoyed, they&#8217;d head to one of those restaurants and support them.&#8221;</p><p>There will be a lot of food and drinks at the Brewsterhout Rooftop Party, but Kelly said one of the best things to take in at the party is the view. The Intermodal Parking Facility&#8217;s rooftop overlooks Public Square on one side and, on a clear day, the mountains can be glimpsed on the other. Kelly said he hopes weather won&#8217;t be an issue, but if it does come into play, the party can acquire a roof by moving down one floor until the sky clears.</p><p>The Osterhout&#8217;s efforts provide a party, rain or shine, and the public&#8217;s efforts provide a thriving Osterhout. Philanthropy can be such a chore, can&#8217;t it?</p><style>
