PLAINS TWP. &#8212; A Wilkes-Barre man sentenced earlier this year for cheating at a gaming table inside Mohegan Sun Casino was charged with stealing a woman&#8217;s jackpot she won while playing a slot machine.State police gaming enforcement accused Duc Ngoc Pham, 48, of Regent Street, with reaching into a woman&#8217;s purse and stealing $6,846 on July 30.Charges of theft and receiving stolen property were filed against Pham with District Judge Diana Malast in Plains Township on Thursday.Court records say state police charged Pham with changing domino tiles while playing the table game Pai Gow from a non-winning hand to a winning hand on April 3, 2014. Pham placed a $25 bet and earned an additional $25 on the cheated tiles, court records say.Pham was initially charged with knowing by trick to reduce a loss, theft and receiving stolen property.Luzerne County prosecutors withdrew the charges on April 2, when Pham pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct.Judge Joseph Sklarosky Jr. sentenced Pham to time served, a $200 fine and to pay Mohegan Sun Casino $25 in restitution, court records say.According to the latest criminal complaint:Annmarie Gifford told state police she was playing slots in the high limit slot section on July 30, and won several jackpots totaling $1,410 in vouchers and $5,436 cash.Gifford claimed Pham stole the cash when he reached into her purse for a cigarette, the complaint says.State police allege Pham convinced Gifford to let him hold the vouchers she won. Pham left the area and cashed the vouchers at a machine before leaving the casino without returning the money to Gifford, according to the complaint.State police said surveillance cameras recorded Pham allegedly cashing vouchers at a cash machine and being near Gifford when she was paid a jackpot by a slot attendant.Cameras did not record Pham removing cash from Gifford&#8217;s purse, the complaint says.A call to Mohegan Sun Casino to learn why Pham was not banned from the casino due to his April conviction of disorderly conduct was not returned on Friday.Pham could not be reached for comment.Statistics from the state police Uniform Crime Report indicated there were 14 thefts on the casino floor at Mohegan Sun Casino from January to July.
