Police: man cited after being found “extremely intoxicated”

<p>KINGSTON &#8212;Alex Huber got a text message he was not expecting from his friends on Tuesday night &#8212; they told him his house was on fire.</p><p>&#8220;Another friend texted me, and they were like &#8216;hey, are you okay?&#8217; and I didn&#8217;t know what they were talking about,&#8221; Huber, 17, said. &#8220;I rushed over there, and I see the house is just gone.&#8221;</p><p>A fire that ravaged Huber&#8217;s residence on West Dorrance Street Tuesday night is still under investigation.</p><p>Fire Chief Frank Guido said firefighters were behind the fire station on Wyoming Avenue when they saw the flames. Emergency crews were then dispatched to 42 W. Dorrance St. at about 10:10 p.m. for a reported structure fire, according to a Luzerne County 911 supervisor.</p><p>Guido said crews arrived to find the double block home in flames.</p><p>&#8220;They found extremely heavy fire showing from the front side of the building,&#8221; he said.</p><p>He also stressed the water main break a short distance away at Mercer Avenue and Walnut Street posed no issues for firefighters.</p><p>&#8220;Because of the water situation, thank God we had two tankers on site,&#8221; he said.</p><p>Guido said crews immediately began fighting the fire, and began an interior search for residents. One woman, who called 911 to report the fire, fell unconscious while she was on the phone.</p><p>Guido said operators from Luzerne County 911 reported the situation to crews at the scene, who were then able to rescue her.</p><p>In all, three victims were taken to the hospital. Guido added two of them were taken to the Lehigh Valley Burn Center.</p><p>&#8220;As of this time, all three victims are alive,&#8221; Guido said, adding he had no further information.</p><p>Huber said that his mother, who was at home, is currently at the hospital with burns to her nose and some sort of throat issue.</p><p>The fire claimed some cats and dogs that were inside the residence. One firefighter also suffered from dehydration while fighting the blaze, while another sustained a cut.</p><p>Guido said both injuries were minor, and the firefighters have since been treated and released from the hospital.</p><p>The house, however, looks to be a total loss.</p><p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t believe the building is salvageable,&#8221; Guido said, adding the building has been declared uninhabitable.</p><p>The fire remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal, as well as by the Kingston police and fire departments.</p><p>Huber said his room was &#8220;untouched&#8221; by the blaze, which enabled him to remove his belongings from the shell of what was once his home. Along with tending to his mother, he thanked the fire department for such a quick responses to the blaze.</p><style>
