EXETER: The Cosmopolitan Seniors will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, in St. Anthony&#8217;s Center. Host/hostesses are Evelyn Naples, Bernie Petrasek, Frank Schall, and Betsie Williams. Forty two members and one guest attended the previous meeting.The fifty-fifty winners were Ginny Craig, Edith Jones, Terri Mislan, Ann Marie Shedlock, and Helen Zarychta. The special game prize winner was Irene Parini and Terri Mislan won the jackpot prize.A trip to Sands Casino is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17. Pickups are in Exeter and Pittston.FALLS: The Falls Active Adult Center, SR 92 Exeter Township, will have a lunch and learn at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26, with Judy Harry and Alice Russimano to discuss &#8220;Apprise,&#8221; the State Health Insurance Assistance Program counseling for people with Medicare in PA. On Thursday, Aug. 27, there will be a Parisian lunch served so come dressed to go to Paris. Active Aging Day for Luzerne/Wyoming counties at the Wyoming County Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 3 o.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Enjoy free admission for those 62 and over. Music will be provided by George Rittenhouse, bingo by Northmoreland Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. and more. The annual picnic will be held starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept.10, at Frances Slocum State Park. You must RSVP for lunch. There will be a craft fair and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept.19. There is going to be a wool spinning demonstration as well as a wide variety of crafts including homemade candy and a food vendor. KINGSTON: The Kingston Active Adult Center, 335 Third Ave., will offer glaucoma screening by the Blind Association at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25.Our pilot program, &#8220;Sing to Your Health&#8221; will continue at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.A special &#8220;Parisian Day Lunch&#8221; will be served on Thursday, Aug. 27. Also, that morning we will have students from Wilkes University coming to interview members in preparation for the Health Fair to be held in October at the center.LUZERNE/WYOMING COUNTIES: The Senior Peer Counseling Program is looking for seniors 60 or older experiencing life changes or minor emotional issues, who do not wish to use mental health services in an office setting. Trained senior peer counselors visit and provide in-home socialization and support for an hour each week, sharing skills and experiences.Male and female seniors 55 and older who drive are also needed as senior peer counselor volunteers. Registration for the next series of training classes is in progress. SPCP of Community Counseling Services, Luzerne and Wyoming counties, elects volunteers to provide companionship to individuals. Volunteers benefit from learning new skills and offering their personal service, as they are trained in topics related to mental health and aging.There is no cost to participate in this program.
