<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Philadelphia man who skipped out on work release in 2012 is headed to state prison on an escape charge.</p><p>Shawn Brinkley, 32, was sentenced Tuesday by Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas to spend nine to 24 months behind bars on the misdemeanor count, according to court records.</p><p>Brinkley in late April 2012 failed to return to Luzerne County Correctional Facility after attending school at Luzerne County Community College&#8217;s Corporate Learning Center on Public Square, a criminal complaint says.</p><p>The man was serving a sentence on drug charges, the complaint says, but was permitted to attend classes through the prison&#8217;s work release program.</p><p>Court papers indicate Brinkley would have completed his minimum prison term in July 2012.
