<p>HANOVER TWP. &#8212; Township Police Chief Al Walker said Wednesday there was no indication 21-year-old Joseph Coleman was riding a bicycle before he was struck on Main Road early Saturday morning, contradicting a claim by Coleman&#8217;s father.</p><p>Michael Coleman said Tuesday his son often rode a purple colored Huffy mountain bicycle, and left a friend&#8217;s residence on Cook Street in Ashley with the bike the morning he was killed.</p><p>&#8220;There is no information the victim was riding a bicycle at the time of the incident,&#8221; Walker said. &#8220;No indication at all. At the time, the victim was walking.&#8221;</p><p>Michael Coleman claimed a mangled purple bicycle was found in bushes outside the Hanover Township Municipal Building on Sans Souci Parkway, about 500 yards from where the fatal crash happened. When he went to look for it, he said police told him the bicycle had been there for a few days.</p><p>Walker said investigators canvassed the Buttonwood neighborhood for surveillance camera recordings in an attempt to identify the vehicle that struck Joseph Coleman at about 5:44 a.m. As of Wednesday, investigators have yet to identify the make and model of the vehicle, Walker said.</p><p>&#8220;We covered all the surveillance angles from the immediate area and expanding further out,&#8221; Walker said.</p><p>Walker said the difficulty with identifying a vehicle is the lack of witnesses.</p><p>&#8220;There are not many vehicles and people out at that time of day,&#8221; Walker said.</p><p>Michael Coleman said a patron at PSC service station, located at Sans Souci and Main Road, saw a man walking in the middle of Main Road waving his arms at about 5:30 a.m.</p><p>Police believe Joseph Coleman was struck prior to 5:44 a.m. when 911 was called.</p><p>Joseph Coleman was found in the northbound lane of Main Road in front of Buttonwood Cafe and Skiro&#8217;s Landscaping. Police said the driver of the vehicle continued north on Main Road after Joseph Coleman was struck.</p><p>There are no sidewalks in the area where Joseph Coleman was found. A sidewalk along the southbound lane of Main Road begins at Mary Street, adjacent to Skiro&#8217;s Landscaping.</p><p>Walker said there was &#8220;little or no&#8221; debris recovered at the scene making it nearly impossible to determine the make and model of a vehicle.</p><p>An autopsy revealed Joseph Coleman died from multiple traumatic injuries due to being struck by a vehicle.</p><p>Luzerne County Coroner William Lisman ruled the death a homicide.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re still scratching hoping to make headway, hoping someone will come forward,&#8221; Walker said. &#8220;Even if it&#8217;s something they heard in a conversation in a bar or someplace, they should contact us or 911.&#8221;</p><p>Anyone with information about the fatal hit and run is asked to call Hanover Township police at 570-825-1254.</p><style>
