<p>KINGSTON &#8212; One of the oldest football programs in the world returned to the gridiron after a brief hiatus in 2014.</p><p>This time around, the story isn&#8217;t about the rebirth of a Blue Knights team that first graced Kingston fields 132 years ago or welcomed the advent of night football in 1892. Wyoming Seminary is looking to once again become competitive against its prep school foes.</p><p>&#8220;I&#8217;m not going to say easier (this year) because it&#8217;s very competitive,&#8221; Blue Knights head coach Jeff Hollway said. &#8220;We&#8217;re a year in. They&#8217;ve seen a varsity football game against varsity competition. We&#8217;re going to be in a better position. We&#8217;re in a better place.&#8221;</p><p>Hollway&#8217;s team is a hodgepodge of youth and experience. The Blue Knights feature 38 players on their roster that consists of 17 new players, 10 seniors, and four post-graduates.</p><p>Leading the post-graduate class is Lafayette-bound strong safety Dmitry Smith out of reknowned Southeast High School in Bradenton, Florida. Trent Johnson (Lansing, Michigan) will take charge behind center. His tight end target will be Tomas Wright out of St. Augustine, Florida.</p><p>Running back Dimetri Kelly won the Philadelphia Catholic League Class 4A MVP in 2013, setting a Roman Catholic school record of 3,315 rushing yards. EasternPAFootball reported that Kelly has had interest from Rutgers and Temple.</p><p>&#8220;As we discussed in the past, we&#8217;re not looking for the best football players necessarily, we&#8217;re looking for the best character kids that are also football players,&#8221; Hollway said. &#8220;These kids fit into our community, into our style.&#8221;</p><p>Senior Victoria Morrison, of Forty Fort, traded in her goalkeeper gloves for football cleats this season, becoming the first girl to play football at Wyoming Seminary.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s senior year, and I wanted to try something new,&#8221; Morrison said nonchalantly. &#8220;I thought football would be a good fit. It involved kicking.</p><p>&#8220;I just want to play a sport, have fun, make a little bit of history on the way.&#8221;</p><p>Morrison will be different from the other girls that have suited up at other high school teams in the Wyoming Valley. She won&#8217;t just suit up for field goals &#8211; she&#8217;s going to play linebacker as well. At Wednesday&#8217;s practice, Morrison participated in the same drills as the boys &#8211; carrying a teammate on her back downfield.</p><p>&#8220;Here, at Wyoming Seminary, there are no two kids that are the same,&#8221; Hollway said. &#8220;The only difference here is that one is a male and a female. Victoria fits in with our guys just like any student from Thailand or Canada &#8230;We ask her to do the same things that the guys do.&#8221;</p><p>Twenty-one Northeastern Pennsylvania student-athletes will join the players from three states and four countries (Argentina, Canada, Finland, Thailand) at Nesbitt Stadium this season. Among them is junior lineman Connor Switzer. The Harding resident will platoon in a multi-faceted offense that&#8217;s strong on both rushing and passing fronts.</p><p>&#8220;We like to run. We have a lot of good guys up front to help block for us,&#8221; Switzer said. &#8220;And, in the same right, (Johnson) can step back and pass. It keeps us on our toes and makes us pay attention on every play because we&#8217;re changing it up every time.&#8221;</p><p>Wyoming Seminary will have to get over some of the inconsistencies that plagued the team in 2014. The undersized Blue Knights finished the season with a 1-6 record. In October, they recorded their first win since 2010 when they defeated the Columbus Crusaders 58-28 in Ohio.</p><p>The Blue Knights opened with Episcopal Academy (out of Delaware County) on Friday night and lost, 48-14, at the newly remodeled Nesbitt Stadium.</p><style>
