Federal waiver means no School Performance Profile scores this year

<p>KINGSTON &#8212; A man from Swoyersville was arraigned Tuesday on charges he swiped a racing mountain bicycle from a garage on West Bennett Street over the weekend.</p><p>Police charged Carmen Anthony, 42, of Tener Street, with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property. He was arraigned by District Judge Paul Roberts in Kingston and jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail.</p><p>Police said the bicycle is valued at $3,700.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint:</p><p>The victim told police Sunday night a man without a shirt entered an open garage and took off riding a Kona Process mountain bicycle.</p><p>Police were contacted Monday by Dominic Iorio who claimed Anthony gave him a mountain bicycle to use while Anthony borrowed Iorio&#8217;s vehicle, the complaint says.</p><p>Iorio rode the bicycle from Anthony&#8217;s residence and later learned via Facebook that the bicycle was stolen. Iorio had Anthony pick up the bicycle, according to the complaint.</p><p>Police allege in the complaint surveillance video from Tener Street showed Anthony returning to his residence without a shirt and riding a bicycle just before 9 p.m. Sunday. Another video recording allegedly captured Anthony removing the bicycle from his residence and Iorio riding away on it Monday morning.</p><p>When Iorio confronted Anthony about the stolen bicycle, Anthony allegedly told him to &#8220;Keep it quiet&#8221; and to &#8220;hide the bike for a while,&#8221; the complaint says.</p><p>Police recovered the bicycle on Monday.</p><p>Court records indicate Anthony was sentenced in February 2014 to one year probation on charges of theft and criminal conspiracy for his role in stealing scrap metal from Luzerne Iron Works in Swoyersville in January 2014.</p><style>
