<p>LARKSVILLE &#8212; Police allege that a borough man attacked police Chief John Edwards while Edwards was investigating a domestic dispute.</p><p>Austin Barrett, 32, faces a felony count of aggravated assault, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, single misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and three summary counts of harassment.</p><p>Barrett was arraigned before District Judge James Tupper and, unable to post $100,000 straight bail, was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility to await arraignment before District Judge David Barilla at 9 a.m. Sept. 17.</p><p>Police allege that during Edwards&#8217; investigation of a domestic dispute at a Barney Street home at about 10:25 Monday morning, Barrett charged Edwards, causing Edwards to fall to the floor. According to the police department&#8217;s Facebook page, only after being stunned with a Taser was Barrett able to be subdued.</p><p>Police were dispatched to the Barney Street residence for the report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, a woman holding a baby with a toddler standing next to her met Edwards.</p><p>The woman said Barrett had pulled her hair and threw her to the ground while she was holding the child, police said.</p><p>While Edwards was explaining the process of obtaining a Protection from Abuse Order to the woman, Barrett allegedly came outside yelling, &#8220;You&#8217;re not arresting me or taking me anywhere.&#8221;</p><p>At that point, police said, Edwards advised Barrett he was under arrest. Barrett then allegedly ran into the residence and refused to comply with Edwards&#8217; directives.</p><p>When Edwards entered the house, he was allegedly attacked by Barrett, and the two fell to the floor. After Barrett was stunned with a Taser, he was placed in handcuffs, police said.</p><p>Back up officers from Plymouth, Edwardsville, Courtdale, Luzerne and Swoyersville responded to the scene.</p><p>Edwards was transported to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released.</p><style>

Larksville police chief allegedly attacked while responding to domestic incident
