WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Luzerne County Domestic Relations employee who is facing drunken-driving charges has waived his preliminary hearing, sending the case from a magistrate&#8217;s court up to the county bench.Eugene Duffy allegedly had a blood alcohol level more than three times above the legal limit after he crashed a vehicle at North River and Chestnut streets on July 7, city police said.Records show Duffy, 53, of West Hazleton, was suspended from his $64,260-per-year support officer job with pay following his arrest.According to a police affidavit, officers arrived at the intersection just before midnight to find a black Acura SUV on its side and a utility pole lying across Chestnut Street.Police identified Duffy as the driver, adding that he had crawled out of the flipped vehicle before officers arrived.Duffy was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, where a blood test allegedly showed he had a blood alcohol level of .269 percent, police said. Under state law, an adult driver is considered legally intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of .08 percent.Duffy, who was off duty at the time of the incident, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol.Formal arraignment has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 13 in county court.<div class="metaInfo"><subheadMeta>Domestic Relations support officer Eugene Duffy was suspended with pay</subheadMeta></div>
