The Plains Township Board of Commissioners heard from several miffed Poplar Street residents about parking concerns during Thursday night&#8217;s regular meeting.Recently installed signage restricting parking in an unnamed alley between Warner and Mercer streets has upset residents, who claim that they formerly parked on there for decades.Others claimed that the sudden rush to implement the parking restriction has led to inconveniences for elderly and access problems for people utilizing driveways and alleyways to access Poplar street.Despite disagreements, Commissioner Brigid O&#8217;Connor maintained that parking was legally restricted to increase public safety after the performance of a legitimate traffic study.She also stated that the township has been commended by Poplar street residents who claim it is now easier to drive on the road.In an attempt to alleviate street congestion, the board unanimously passed a measure to offer to acquire a dilapidated property of 42 Poplar St. with the intention of creating a public parking lot, but some residents were still left with concerns about security.Township officials will also work with handicapped residents on that street to accommodate special parking needs, they said.In other matters, Commissioner Ron Filippini thanked the fire departments of Plains Township and Wilkes-Barre for their work to locate former commissioner Andy Walgo, who went missing from the Riverview Manor Personal Care facility on Sept. 4.Walgo has not yet been found.<div class="metaInfo"><bylineMeta>By B.
