<p>KINGSTON &#8212; If a New York man is able to post $10,000 bail on allegations he cashed bogus checks at a credit union in Kingston, most of the 122 counts consisting of forgery and criminal conspiracy will be withdrawn, according to a potential agreement.</p><p>Police on July 29 arrested Jerry Chimezie Onuaguluchi, 21, and Shayne T. Sealey, 21, both of New York City, after investigating a suspicious vehicle and a customer wearing a hooded sweatshirt covering his head and sunglasses who walked into the UFCW Credit Union.</p><p>What police allegedly stumbled upon was a scheme to deposit forged checks through automated-teller machines and equipment to manufacture fake checks, according to the criminal complaints.</p><p>When the forged checks were deposited, Onuaguluchi and Sealey would withdrawal funds using other ATMs and split the money, the complaints say.</p><p>Onuaguluchi remains jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.</p><p>Under an agreement between police and his lawyer, Joseph Sklarosky Sr., Onuaguluchi may face one count each of forgery, criminal conspiracy to commit forgery, possession of instruments of crime, criminal conspiracy to possess instruments of crime, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in Luzerne County Court.</p><p>If Onuaguluchi is unable to post bail, he will face a preliminary hearing on Sept. 16 on 122 counts of forgery and similar offenses.</p><p>Sealey was released from the county correctional facility Thursday after posting $10,000 bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on 122 counts of forgery, possession of instruments of crime and criminal conspiracy.</p><p>Police arrested the pair when they exited a motel on Kidder Street, Wilkes-Barre, carrying backpacks containing a computer and a printer. Police suspect they used the equipment to manufacture checks, the complaints say.</p><p>Hours earlier, police learned Sealey entered the credit union and deposited checks through the ATM.</p><p>Police alleged they found five deposit slips totaling $4,641.04, along with a bank card belonging to a woman, inside Onuaguluchi&#8217;s vehicle.</p><p>The owner of the bank card told police she did not know Onuaguluchi and Sealey and did not give them permission to use her bank card.</p><p>Onuaguluchi allegedly told police he recruits people to give him bank account information and bank cards, and deposits forged checks into the accounts. Onuaguluchi claimed he uses ATMs at various banks to withdraw money and splits the cash with people who help in the scheme, the complaints say.</p><style>
