<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Two Hanover Area players sneaked up on coach Mike McCree and doused him with a container of ice water after Saturday night&#8217;s game.</p><p>In reality, the two Hawkeyes could have done it at halftime.</p><p>After Holy Redeemer shocked Hanover Area on its first play from scrimmage, the Hawkeyes put on a dominant performance in a 43-7 Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2A victory.</p><p>The victory was the first for McCree, who took over the program this year. It also came after a tough loss to Carbondale in the season opener.</p><p>&#8220;It feels real good,&#8221; McCree said. &#8220;It was a long week, but we had a tremendous week of practice. We were more prepared. Our kids were calling out every play they ran. Our defense was calling them out. We knew by formation where it was going. I&#8217;m very proud of the film preparation. I thought our coaches did a much better job getting the guys prepared.&#8221;</p><p>That showed after the first play Redeemer (1-1) ran &#8212; a 79-yard touchdown pass from Cameron Brennan to Jonathan Winter. After the stunner gave the Royals a 7-0 lead 20 seconds into the game, Hanover Area made their offense disappeared.</p><p>Redeemer finished with minus-40 yards rushing, with a bad punt snap out of the end zone not helping that statistics, and 37 yards of total offense.</p><p>Meanwhile, Hanover Area&#8217;s attack centered on running back Tyheim Taylor. A backup last year, Taylor eclipsed his 2014 rushing totals Saturday with 199 yards and five touchdowns. All came in the first half as the Hawkeyes started scoring drives at the Redeemer 16, 41, 49, 39 and 36 yard lines.</p><p>&#8220;Tyheim was big in our game plan,&#8221; McCree said. &#8220;Last week, the offensive line didn&#8217;t come out to play. We put the onus on the O-line. We have a big O-line and made some changed. Matt Sebolka started at right tackle. We moved (Zach) Roediger to guard, which is a better fit for him. We told the O-line we&#8217;re putting it on them today.&#8221;</p><p>Hanover Area won the line of scrimmage on both side of the ball, something Redeemer second-year coach Scott Dennis knows has been a weakness of his team.</p><p>&#8220;No doubt it showed,&#8221; Dennis said. &#8220;Both side of the football they dominated us and that was evident from the first quarter on.&#8221;</p><p>Taylor&#8217;s final TD run &#8212; his longest at 24 yards &#8212; came at 1:58 of the second quarter for a 43-7 lead.
