Congressional delegation touts Tobyhanna to the Marines

First Posted: 2/10/2014 Leadership Lackawanna raised $3,225 at their &#8220;Feel Good Friday&#8221; fundraiser on Jan. 10 at The Backyard Alehouse for the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
Admission was $20 per person which included two hours of open bar, food and live entertainment by singer/songwriter Tom Graham. In addition to the proceeds raised from ticket sales and donations, money was also raised from basket and gift certificate raffles. More than 30 businesses within the area graciously donated gift certificates, products and other items to be raffled off.
Griffin Pond Animal Shelter launched a foster program in early 2012. It is volunteer run with administrative assistance from shelter staff. Due to the great need of foster parents, Griffin Pond Animal Shelter reached out to Leadership Lackawanna.
Leadership Lackawanna is assisting Griffin Pond with branding, fundraising and marketing their foster program in order to gain awareness and increase the number of fostered pets. The shelter cares for nearly 6,000 animals a year, so the foster program is a necessary means of specialized care for sick, injured, newborn/nursing animals or animals with behavioral issues.
The foster program is a key component in reducing the number of animals facing euthanasia at the shelter, through dedicated care from fosters and by making space available for other animals while keeping more animals off the streets of our community.
