First Posted: 9/15/2014 Keystone College&#8217;s volleyball team won its home opener on Saturday afternoon by sweeping Valley Forge Christian College in three sets in a non-conference match. The Giants, who got a match-high 11 kills from Hannah Zuchowski along with five aces and 16 digs from Ciera Scepaniak, snapped a three-game losing skid to improve to 3-4 on the season.
Keystone got out on the right foot with a 25-18 victory in the first set before taking a 2-0 advantage with a 25-17 decision in set two. The third game proved to be the tightest of the day, but the Giants prevailed 25-21 to lock up the win.
Zuchowski&#8217;s 11 kills came on 34 total attacks for a .235 hitting percentage. The sophomore outside hitter also picked up 10 digs to finish with a double-double. Scepaniak posted nine kills on 21 attempts and posted a season-high and match-best five aces on the day while leading the Giants with 16 digs.
Amelia Morey led all players with 19 assists in the win while Carol Mosier added eight assists. Tunkhannock graduate Dana Carey was one of three Keystone players to finish with double-digit digs after picking up 13 in the match to go along with four aces while Jackie Nat contributed six kills on just 10 total attacks.
Keystone will look to make it two wins in a row on Tuesday evening when it travels to Bryn Athyn College for a non-conference match scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania.
