Philly skyscraper-sized Tetris game wows hundreds

First Posted: 2/28/2014 Michael Zimmerman, chief executive officer of Family Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania (FSA of NEPA), and presenting sponsor Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs announced that Pauline Carmody, of West Pittston, a volunteer of the agency, will serve as chairperson of the 12th Annual Spring Gala and Auction.
Co-chairperson for the event is Teddi Janosov, of Sheatown, assistant in the Student Life/Athletics Office at Luzerne County Community College.
The theme for this year&#8217;s gala is &#8220;Carnival of Love&#8230;.Celebrating Families.&#8221; It will feature a carnival-like atmosphere while also placing strong emphasis on the agency&#8217;s mission of &#8220;building stronger communities through stronger families.&#8221;
A highlight of the evening will be displayed artwork by the children from the families that the agency serves.
Other sponsors of the event are WBRE TV, Service Electric Cable & Communications, Magic 93, Lamar Advertising, Lita and Leonard Insalaco, Medical Oncology Associates, PNC Bank and Simon & Co. Jewelers.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 12 at The Hotel at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre. Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with cocktails and hors d&#8217;oeuvres followed by a sit-down dinner and musical entertainment for dancing. Both a live and silent auction will be conducted and those attending will be able to bid on a wide variety of items, including vacation destinations, sporting events, sports memorabilia, jewelry, and restaurant gift certificates.
Carmody, who served as co-chairperson for last year&#8217;s gala, has served as chair of the Gala Marketing Committee for the past two years. She has been a volunteer for the past three years at Family Service Association and during that time she has also chaired the Marketing/Public Relations Committee for the agency&#8217;s Pauly Friedman 5 K Family Walk/Run.
Janosov joined the agency as a volunteer last year and served on the Gala Marketing Committee.
