First Posted: 12/13/2013 PennDOT crews and a contractor completed emergency bridge repairs on Interstate 81 ahead of schedule.
PennDOT announced earlier today that emergency bridge repairs were needed on I-81 North at Exit 190 (Dickson City/Main Ave). This bridge is in the process of being replaced, but a large opened up on the portion that has not yet been replaced.
In a news statement, the hole did not go all the way through the deck of the bridge, and repairs were made in just a few hours.
Reports are that traffic is still backed up on I-81 northbound, and heavy delays are expected. Motorists are urged to find alternate routes if possible.
