Lung Cancer Alliance celebrates Lung Cancer Awareness Month

First Posted: 10/7/2013 Bradley Adams, son of Todd and Jennifer Adams, of Dallas, recently completed the Troop &#8220;P&#8221; Camp Cadet Program. Camp Cadet is a week-long summer camp for boys and girls from Pennsylvania between the ages of 12 and 15. Pennsylvania State Troopers, local police officers and other volunteers staff the camp.
The goal of Camp Cadet is to introduce participants to the diverse criminal justice system and establish a positive relationship with law enforcement personnel. Camp Cadet is open to all youth and is structured similar to training at the police academy. The camp focuses on discipline, self-esteem, teamwork, drug and alcohol education, violence prevention and other issues facing youth today.
While participating in group activities and physical fitness challenges, the Cadets are observed by the troopers for leadership, positive attitudes and helping fellow cadets. At the end of the week, troopers select four boys and four girls to return the following year as Junior Counselors.
Of the eight selected to return as Junior Counselors, troopers unanimously select one boy and one girl to attend Honor Camp to represent Troop &#8220;P.&#8221; The Honor Camp program was formed to showcase &#8220;the best of the best&#8221; from Camp Cadet programs throughout the state.
Adams, 14 and an eighth-grade student at Dallas Middle School, was not only chosen to return as a Junior Counselor but was also selected to attend Honor Camp in Hershey.
