BMT Baseball wants to tear down old school

First Posted: 10/15/2013 The Duryea Rec Board will have its annual Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Healey Park, Foote Avenue Duryea. The festivities will begin with a parade that starts at 5 p.m. behind the Duryea Post Office on Brown Street and end at the Healey Playground.
Children will be treated to hot dogs, chips, as well as goody bags. There will be a Haunted House, DJ, Music, Hay rides, great food and fun. It is free to all children.
Rain date will be Sunday, Oct. 27 with a 5 p.m. parade start.
Holiday Beer Raffle
The Son&#8217;s of the American Legion, Squadron 585 Duryea are holding a Holiday Beer raffle to benefit the Pittston Area cheerleaders. Tickets are $3 each or two for $5. First prize is a $500 gift card to Quality Beverage in Laflin; second prize is a $200 gift card to PA Wine & Spirits; third prize is a $100 gift card to Komensky&#8217;s Market in Duryea; fourth prize is a $50 gift card to Rehoski&#8217;s Market in Duryea; fifth prize is a $50 gift card to the Town Tavern. Drawing will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21. Tickets may be purchased from any Sal&#8217;s officer or at the post home.
Teen Driving Safety 
At the Duryea Borough October Council meeting, Duryea Borough Mayor Keith Moss proclaimed Oct. 18-26 as National Teen Driver Safety Week and calls upon all residents, businesses, schools, churches and other organizations to join the borough to participate in &#8220;Celebrate My Drive.&#8221;
State Farm Insurance Company is sponsoring a promotion called &#8220;Celebrate My Drive&#8221; through and is offering five $100,000 grants and 45 $25,000 grants to schools similar in size to Pittston Area High School with a requirement that a minimum of 10 percent of the grant be used for teen driver safety initiatives.
Residents in Duryea Borough are asked to vote for Pittston Area on the website www.celebratemydrive.com.
