Pope visit sparks business response in Wyoming Valley

New vocal ensemble forming LAPLUME: Keystone College has formed a new vocal ensemble that is open to members of the public and the campus community.The new Chorale at Keystone is a large format choir and will follow the same basic membership guidelines as the successful Bands at Keystone. The vocal ensemble is open to Keystone students, adult community singers of all ages, and select high school students.There is no charge or audition necessary to join the new chorale, which is still accepting new members. Experienced music educator Megan Horwatt will serve as the group&#8217;s musical director. If any registered BSA merit badge counselor has not attended one of these sessions in the past 24 months, and wish to remain as an active MB counselor, attendance is highly encouraged.The NEPA BSA consists of the Dan Beard District and the Two Mountains District. With the headquarters being centrally located on Montage Mountain in Moosic it offers training, scout shop, information and houses the business office of the council.LCCC participates in &#8220;See you at the pole&#8221;sessionNANTICOKE: The Luzerne County Community College BASIC (Brothers and Sisters in Christ) Club will participate in the 25th annual &#8220;See You at the Pole&#8221; prayer session at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the college&#8217;s flagpole near Founders Hall.The prayer session is part of the Global Day of Student Prayer held each year on the fourth Wednesday of September at the flagpole on a school&#8217;s campus.This is a prayer rally of students and staff that meet at the school&#8217;s flagpole before school to pray for their school, friends, families, students, faculty, and the nation. The event is free and open to the public.Religious experience lecture seriesSCRANTON: Marywood University will offer a Religious Experience Lecture Series with the first of the two lectures being held at 7 p.m. on Monday on the third floor of the learning commons on the university&#8217;s campus. The lecture is entitled: &#8220;Christian-Sannyasa: Interfaith Spirituality in Bede Griffiths and Abhishiktananda&#8221; and is free and open to the public.Beverly Lanzetta, Ph.D., will be the speaker for the Sept. 21 lecture. Dr. Lanzetta is a retired professor of religious studies and author of the book, Emerging Heart: Global Spirituality and the Sacred.The second lecture will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, on the third floor of the learning commons on the university&#8217;s campus.&#8220;The Purpose and Person-Relativity of Religious Argumentation&#8221; will be presented by William J. Wainwright, Ph.D., professor of philosophy emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.Rosary Rally on Public SquareWILKES-BARRE:A Public Square Rosary Rally will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 10, to pray for the conversion of America at Our Lady of Fatima Grotto, North Street, Wilkes-Barre. It is one of fourteen thousand rallies nationwide, sponsored by America Needs Fatima.Following the Rosary Walter Camier will speak of the Fatima message of great hope for those who stay faithful and persevere in these times.
