Treasurer McCord: only days remain to save on taxes by saving for college

First Posted: 9/23/2012 Unexpected happenings can turn the world upside down, but family friends and strangers can help make it right again. 
That's what cancer survivor Floss Babiarz was feeling last Sunday afternoon at a benefit in her honor at the Greenwood Hose Company. 
Many family, friends, and supporters attended to show support for the Avoca native who now resides in Old Forge.
"I appreciate everyone's love, it's very heartwarming," Babiarz told the gathering who dined on delicacies donated by several area restaurants and purchased raffle tickets on dozens of specialty baskets, all also donated.
Babiarz shared a night to remember with the people that care about her and want to see her get well.
"I will not let this beat me, rather I will beat it," she pronounced to rousing applause.
Barbiarz managed to work the room with her charm and spirit, personally thanking everyone for coming to support her.
When asked "What is the next step?" her reply was, "Tomorrow I'll find out. It is what it is." She had an appointment Monday at Fox Chase Cancer Treatment Center in Philadelphia. She did tell the crowd the prognosis was good.
