First Posted: 8/17/2012 POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) &amp;mdash; An eastern Pennsylvania man could spend more than 33 years behind bars for fatally shooting his father in what investigators say was an argument over money.
The Pottsville Republican-Herald reports (<a href="http://bit.ly/NNUfNu">http://bit.ly/NNUfNu</a>&amp;nbsp;) that Franklin Stumhofer Jr. was sentenced Friday to between nearly 17 years and 33-1/2 years in prison.
A Schuylkill County jury had convicted him of third-degree murder for killing 61-year-old Franklin Stumhofer Sr. last year in West Penn Township.
Jurors also found the younger Stumhofer guilty of aggravated assault for shooting at three other family members the same day in Berks County. None was injured.
Defense attorney Robert Kirwan had argued that prosecutors didn't prove any intent to kill. He cited his client's testimony about the downward spiral of his life and his medications.
