NANTICOKE &#8212; Frank Marshallick and his son, Jared, were recognized at Monday night&#8217;s City Council meeting for the quick action during a fire last month.Frank and Jared, of East Washington Street, Nanticoke, were delivering flyers for a food drive on Feb. 21 when they noticed smoke coming from a home on East Green and Walnut Streets. The pair notified the residents and fire department to what turned out to be a two-alarm structure fire.As a result of the father and son&#8217;s quick response, all family members, as well as the family pets escaped the fire without injury.Frank Marshallick is a troop leader with Boy Scout Troop 418, and Jared is a member of the troop.Prior to the council meeting, the Marshallick&#8217;s were presented with certificates of recognition and appreciation from Mayor Richard Wiaterowski, state Rep. Gerald Mullery, D-Newport Township, the Nanticoke Fire Department, and representatives from U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta&#8217;s office and state Sen. John Yudichak&#8217;s office.In other matters, council adopted an ordinance authorizing an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement between the city, Hanover Township, Newport Township, Plymouth Township, Ashley and Sugar Notch. The agreement is relative to the establishment of the Lower South Valley Council of governments.The Honey Pot Volunteer Fire department will host an all-you-can eat breakfast buffet from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 12.
