First Posted: 3/25/2012 Ashley Dommes hit a home run in each game Saturday afternoon to tie the Marywood University's career record while helping the Pacers sweep a Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader at Neumann University, 10-4 and 13-12. The second game went nine innings. Dommes, a senior from West Scranton, has 17 career homers. That matches the school-record total established by Sue King from 1984 to 1987. Marywood improved to 4-0 in the CSAC and 6-10 overall with the sweep. Neumann (4-2 and 6-10) came into the doubleheader unbeaten in the conference. Marywood scored tthree times in each of the first two innings for a 6-1 lead in the opener. Dommes added a double to her homer and drove in two runs. Kellsie Davis, Mariah Runco and Jillian Flanagan were all 3-for-5 for the Pacers. Neumann took a 7-0 lead after five innings of the second game. Meghin Palmer went 4-for-5 with an RBI while Dommes was 3-for-4 with four RBI. BASEBALL Lackawanna College swept Sussex County Community College in two different ways. The Falcons won, 5-4, on Lavance Anderson's, walk-off, two-run homer. Valley View graduate Logan Kanuik threw a one-hitter and Lackawanna rolled, 19-0, in the second game. Chris Pollick threw 3 1/3 innings of no-hit relief for the win in the first game. Josh White, another Valley View graduate, had a three-run homer in the second game. Kanuik struck out 12. WOMEN'S LACROSSE St. Thomas Aquinas broke away from a halftime tie to defeat Marywood, 22-15. Sarah Caughy had three goals and an assist for the Pacers. St. Thomas Aquinas is a Division II school. In another game, the University of Scranton defeated Lebanon Valley College, 17-9. Jilliana DePaolera passed the 100-point mark for her career with five goals. The Royals pulled away after leading 8-6 at halftime. MEN'S LACROSSE Taylor Nelson, Kyle Frank and Daniel Slade scored three goals each as Scranton opened Landmark Conference play with a 13-7 win over Washington &amp;amp; Jefferson. In another game, Marywood scored the only three goals of the fourth quarter for a 9-8 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College in a CSAC opener. Riley Dobel scored the tying and winning goal. MEN'S TENNIS Four-time defending champion Drew University defeated Scranton, 5-2, in a rain-shortened match. WOMEN'S TENNIS Drew edged Scranton, 5-4. In other action, the United States Merchant Marine Academy swept the University of Scranton, 11-4 and 12-6. USMMA had 24 hits in the doubleheader. Tim LeCompte had three hits, including a homer, and three runs for Scranton in the first game. He had two hits and three RBI in the second game.
