Kanjorski, Carney have leftover cash

<p>NANTICOKE &#8212; Luzerne County Community College will offer cooking classes during the fall at the college&#8217;s Joseph A. Paglianite Culinary Institute in downtown Nanticoke.</p><p>&#8220;Soups and Sauces&#8221; will teach participants the basics of creating soups and sauces. Topics will include creating from scratch, consomm&#233;, cream soups and how to make the &#8220;five mother sauces.&#8221; The two-session course will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 24.</p><p>&#8220;Pastas and Sauces&#8221; provides instructions on how to make homemade ravioli, gnocchi, tortellini, linguini, tomato-basil sauce, marinara, brown butter sage sauce and tomato cream sauce alfredo. The two-session course will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 14.</p><p>&#8220;Christmas Cookies&#8221; will teach participants how to make cookies such as biscotti, butter cookies and Linzer tarts. The two-session course will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 12.</p><p>&#8220;Kids and Cookies&#8221; is designed to provide children ages 9 through 11 with both basic culinary instruction and the opportunity to create and design their own assortment of holiday cookies.
