<b>First Posted:</b> 8/22/2010<br><br>Eugene C. Maria, of West Pittston, died August 17, 2010, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was the husband of Lucy (Yorio) Maria. 
Born January 8, 1927, in Pittston, he was a son of the late Maria Rose (Lunetta) Maria and Cataldo Maria. He graduated from Pittston High School, class of 1944, worked as a dress manufacturer and owned and operated Lu-Cee and Rainbow Fashions of Pittston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the San Cataldo Society, Pittston. 
He was also preceded in death by brothers Ky, Carl, Sam, Joseph, Angelo and Anthony Maria; sisters Grace Loquasto and Louise Maria; and a granddaughter, Sarah Nicholas. 
Surviving are daughters Laura and her husband, Jeffrey McHugh, Pittston, and Mariarose Maria and Craig Nicholas, Kimberton; son Eugene and Kate Maria, Savannah, Ga.; sisters Eleanor Garzella, Pittston, and Marie Benfante, Pittston; brother Emilio Maria, Florida; grandchildren Stephen, David and Jackson Nicholas, and Elaina Lucia and Cataldo James Maria; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 
Funeral services were Aug. 21 from the Graziano Funeral Home, Pittston Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception RC Church, West Pittston. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
