Racing toward success

<b>First Posted:</b> 5/18/2008<br><br>The Pittston Area girls soccer team entered the District 2 2A playoffs as the no. 7 seed and lost to Holy Redeemer 5-0 in the first round. 
The Patriots hung tough for the first half as they forced a 0-0 tie at the break.
Redeemer broke out with five goals in the second half. Laura Wingert assisted Emily Jones twice and Amanda Pawlowski and Natalie Adams once as the Royals.
Alison Capaci added the fifth goal of the half for Redeemer, which will play Wyoming Seminary at 5 p.m. Monday at Lake-Lehman High School in the semifinals.
The Royals (10-4-1) posted their eighth shutout of the season against the Lady Patriots.
The Lady Patriots were shut out by Valley West Monday in their last regular season game. They were 5-7 in the regular season and 5-8 overall
The Lady Warriors also got their season extended by one game as they played a play-in game on Monday at Lake Lehman where they lost to Coughlin 6-1. 
It was close at the break, 2-1. Kate Scalzo scored for the LWs. They finished 2-10 in the regular season and 2-11 overall.
