HAZLETON &#8212; With a furious second half comeback, Williamsport remained undefeated with a 42-24 road triumph over Hazleton Area Cougars.The game was a back-and-forth affair through the first half, with the two teams exchanging touchdowns. The Cougars (1-3) rode the momentum of taking a 17-14 lead into halftime after kicker Tristan Williams connected on a 30 yard field goal with just 8.2 seconds left.But the Millionaires (4-0) showed resiliency and a potent balanced scoring attack to outscore Hazleton 28-7 in the final two quarters of the game.The star of the game was Millionaires junior quarterback Isaiah Hankins, who he ran for 119 yards on just nine carries while scoring three touchdowns on the ground. His passing game was on point too, as he completed 10 of his 16 throws for 149 yards and three touchdowns coming from the air.Hankins&#8217; favorite target was his senior wideout Jerah Reeves. Reeves caught seven of Hankins&#8217; 10 completions in the game, while racking up 110 yards receiving and catching all three passing touchdowns in the game.A big touchdown connection for the two of them came with 7:46 left in the third quarter, when Hankins, facing a daunting fourth-and-33, fired the ball into the end zone and Reeves out-jumped his man for a 34-yard touchdown catch.That play gave the Millionaires their first lead in the second half at 21-17, and they would not relinquish it. Five-an-a-half minutes later, Hankins and Reeves would hook up again for a 29-yard touchdown pass down the sideline to give their squad a 28-17 advantage going into the fourth.The Millionaires ran over the Cougars defense to control the ball and run off as much of the game clock as possible to ensure there would be no comeback. Hankins would add 3-yard and 4-yard touchdown runs to open and close the final quarter. His scrambling ability kept his team&#8217;s scoring drives alive numerous times and was too much for the Cougars to handle.Hazleton Area was led by sophomore tailback Adrian Otero, who ran for a game high 160 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. He scored the game&#8217;s first points on an overpowering 15-yard touchdown scamper just four minutes into the game. He would add a 13-yard touchdown run with just 3:26 left in the second quarter to tie the game up at 14 apiece.Freshman Cougars quarterback Sparky Wolk struggled throughout most of the game completing just three of his eight passes for only 36 yards and a costly interception to Williamsport&#8217;s Cameron Dickey.Wolk found some redemption in the fourth quarter, heaving a 36-yard touchdown pass to former starting quarterback Hunter Van Blargan to cut his team&#8217;s deficit at just 35-24 with 8:19 left.Coach Mike Brennan&#8217;s squad will now look to stop a three-game losing streak when the Cougars go on the road next Friday night to take on Pittston Area.
