Chalkfest rescheduled due to weather

<p>SWOYERSVILLE &#8212; Mayor Chris Concert wants to hear from residents about people who have gone above and beyond within the community.</p><p>On Sunday, members in the community memorialized Bob Calavano, who spent nearly 30 years in the Loveland Playground and interacting with children, by planting a tree at the playground. A plaque was also placed near the dogwood tree planted in his memory.</p><p>Now, Concert wants to recognize others in the community.</p><p>&#8220;I want to hear people&#8217;s stories,&#8221; Concert said.</p><p>To hear those stories, Concert is asking residents to send letters about people who have gone &#8220;above and beyond&#8221; within the borough. Concert said that Luzerne Bank in the borough will then read the letters, and several candidates will be chosen to receive plaques in their honor.</p><p>Concert also wants to publish the stories online for all borough residents to see.</p><p>Concert said that nothing like this has been done in the borough&#8217;s history, and that he hopes to bring more of a community spirit to the borough, while recognizing those who helped to improve it.</p><p>&#8220;I want to give a shout out to everybody along the way who went above and beyond,&#8221; he said.</p><style>
