WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Jurors in Luzerne County have acquitted a former Wilkes University student of campus sex assault charges.Chukwuka Julian Anamege, 21, was found not guilty Friday of two counts of indecent assault and one count of indecent exposure after less than one hour of deliberation, according to court papers.Anamege&#8217;s trial before Judge David W. Lupas, which court documents indicate began Tuesday, was his second on the same set of misdemeanor charges after a jury in November failed to reach a verdict.A female Wilkes University student claimed that in November 2013 Anamege exposed himself to her, simulated lewd acts and attempted to disrobe her inside his dormitory.The woman alleged the incident lasted some 90 minutes and began after she denied his sexual advances.Anamage testified in November that he had tried to initiate sex with the woman &#8212; who had been drinking &#8212; and said she did, in fact, deny his advance, but his story differed dramatically from there.He said the situation, which began with kissing, deescalated to a conversation about her mental and emotional state. The woman said she had told Anamege she was attending therapy and was prescribed drugs for anxiety and depression.The woman then fell asleep on his chest, Anamege testified. He said she awoke some time later and left his dorm after a brief conversation in which Anamege told the woman he was not looking for a relationship.She moved in for a kiss, he manuevered for a hug and the woman left, he said.
