PLAINS TWP. &#8212; A former member of the Wilkes-Barre Career and Technical Center Joint Operating Committee had several questions for the board at Monday&#8217;s meeting.Gene Mancini, who until recently represented Crestwood Area on the committee, asked if he could question the board on the salary and benefits for the school police officer position that was part of an agenda item.Board Solicitor Ray Wendolowski replied that public comment was at the end of the meeting.The question was then raised by the current Crestwood representative Norb Dotzel, at which point the solicitor said the salary and benefits would be determined by the candidate&#8217;s credentials and experience. The board subsequently voted to post and advertise the school officer position.During public comment, Mancini asked the solicitor to provide the portion of the school code that prohibits him from being in the board&#8217;s executive sessions and was told it would be provided. Mancini also questioned the status of the anti-nepotism policy and was told it was moving along.Mancini also requested an update on the status of the lawsuit filed to get a second seat on the tech school board for a Crestwood representative and was told that the committee working on that had met with counsel.In other business, the board approved payment to Wendolowski for $3,650 for services in August and to attorney John Dean in the amount of $4,350, also for August services.In personnel matters, the board ratified the addition of Walter Sulima to the approved substitute list and accepted the resignation of marketing instructor Rita Zarra, effective Oct. 2.
